Ameris Bancorp announces the promotion of Ron Bell to Area President.

Columbia, SC, Today, Mr. John Hipp, President of the Banking Group for Ameris Bancorp announced the promotion of Ronald K. Bell to the position of Area President. In this role, Ron will have expanded responsibility for oversight of Ameris Bank in Cairo in addition to the Thomasville market. Total assets for the combined markets are $107 million.
In a prepared statement, Hipp stated, "Ron is considered an extremely capable and highly experienced banker in the state of Georgia. He has exceptional leadership and business development skills which will serve these markets well. The skills he developed many years ago in the Marine Corps make him uniquely qualified".
Bell, a native of Dublin, Georgia and his wife Kenlie live in Thomasville. He has been with Ameris Bank for three years and has thirty-three years in banking. A graduate of Georgia College in Milledgeville, Bell also holds a Master of Education degree from Troy State University. He is a graduate of the Georgia School of Banking at the University of Georgia; the Graduate School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University; and The Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Delaware. He is a member of the Thomasville Rotary Club, on the board of the Thomasville/Thomas County Chamber of Commerce and has served in various leadership positions with both the Georgia Banker's Association and the Community Banker's Association of Georgia. He and his wife are members of Thomasville First United Methodist Church.
Bell stated, "I am excited about this expanded role and believe that Ameris Bank has one of the most customer focused philosophies I have seen in my career."
